Literature Text

Her pen danced across the lined page of her journal that she decided would be a good idea to keep of her patient. Her brows furrowed together and her round face, a mask of focus and seriousness, an expression not familiar to her features. Her jaw clenched and unclenched as she furiously scrawled out her most recent entry.

'It has been about two months since I’ve come to work here, and with my patient. According to most of the staff, his behavior has improved dramatically compared to what it used to be. I honestly am afraid to find out how he was before. Just imaging makes me a bit uneasy...'

She tried to suppress a shudder,  but was unsuccessful and lifted her pen before she could mess up the following words.

'Yet I can’t help but feel a bit uneasy around him. He is very sweet and kind, but something about him gives me the chills. Maybe I’m just a bit jumpy because of his file that I received when I first came here. That must be what it is. At least I hope that is what it is.'

She dropped her pen and pinched the bridge of her nose. A sigh escaped from her lips as she bent over to pick it up from it’s new spot on the ground. She grabbed it off the ground and lifted herself from out of the crouching position she was in. She lifted her wrist to check the time on her small wrist watch.

“Oh,” She bopped herself in the forehead as she remembered what had escaped her already busy mind, “ I needed to check on Stein. I haven’t seen him since Monday, and he wanted to speak with me.” Guilt was beginning to overwhelm her senses as she remembered her patient a few days prior.

“Mr. Stein, I told you, please,” She gently pushed his waiting arms away, “You need to keep a bit of distance between us, I don’t want you to get in trouble.”
“If it makes you happy, then I’ll stop.” A grin spread across his face and her cheeks began to feel a bit warm. She sat up straighter to look more professional with her patient at their daily meetings. She cleared her throat and his gaze changed into a focused one as he furrowed his eyebrows in concentration. His face appeared like a small child, attentive and ready for whatever they felt they were going to take on. She giggled and his mask broke into a soft smile. She quickly recovered from her short outburst.

“Now Mr. Stein,”
“I told you, just call me Stein. I prefer that we keep it just a bit informal.” His adult features changed into a pout of a small child.
“Stein,” His pout melted away, “I’m not going to be able to meet with you for a couple of days,”
His mossy orbs widened and his arms engulfed her into a warm and bone crushing embrace.

“You can’t leave me! Please!” He cried out into the crook of her neck. She felt streams of wet warmth running down her neck as he pressed his face closer to her skin and his arms wrapping tighter around her.
“I’m not going anywhere! I promise.” She ran her feminine fingers through his pale hair.

He lifted his face to look at her, and the mere sight of seeing her patient, a fully grown man, with the watery gaze of a young child. A look of fear and pain were swimming in his green eyes. Her fingers came to his face and wiped the water carefully away from his cheeks.

“I just got a huge pile of paperwork that I have to do. And I’m going to be in my office just a couple of floors away. I’m still going to be here, but I can’t meet with you.” He nodded, the childish fear never leaving his features.
“Well then, I have something to tell you Miss __l/n__. And it is extremely important.” Her eyebrow arched slightly.
“Oh, why don’t you tell me before you go to bed?”
He smiled another sweet smile, “ I can’t” He responded, his smile becoming wider by the second.
“Why can’t you tell me now?”
“Because I like seeing you pout,” His large finger tapped her small nose adding to his point.
“Then will you,” He cut her off.
“Tell you when you come to back to me in a couple of days? Yes, that was what I was planning on doing anyway.” His head tilted slightly, adding a bit of creepiness to his wide cat-like grin.

Remembering his crazed grin as she left caused a chill to sprint up and down her spine. She huffed and pushed her feelings aside once again. ‘He is my patient,’ She reminded herself, ‘He needs my help, and I need to stop feeling so foolish.’

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Is there anything that you would like to say before I conclude our session today M-I mean Stein?” Her eyes added a look of curiousness to her questioning face.
“Yes, there is.” She clicked her pen and readied her hand for any and all he had to say.
“Yes,” Her eyes momentarily flickering up to him, then back down to her paper.
“I love you __y/n__ __l/n__.” Her pen froze in mid movement and her body stiffened.
“W-w-what?”
“I love you. I have loved you since the first time I met you all those years ago. Don’t you remember?” His hands wrapped around her small wrists, preventing her from any escape. “Remember, when we first met? How upset you were with me when I said that you would make an excellent specimen for my newest experiment? And your response, about how the bird up in that tree had a better chance of performing an experiment on you than I ever would? Right from that moment, I knew that you were meant for me. And now that you are back, we can live happily ever after, just like you would always say to me.” His crazed grin came back with a vengeance and he leaned in. Her hands tried desperately to escape from his iron grip and her eyes, wide with fear.
“Stein, you need to let go. I have no idea what you are talking about. The very first time I met you was about two months ago when I started working here.” He leaned away to look her straight in the eyes, confusion swirled in his light emerald orbs.
“No, we met a few years ago. I told you that, and you remember! I know you do __y/n__! Love, if this is about your new job, I can try to get my old job back at the school and you won’t have to work in this hell hole with all these insane people who can hurt you.”
“No, Stein. It isn’t that. I’m not your love, I have Never in my life met you until a couple of months ago! I told you.” Tears of anger and frustration ran from her hard and cold gaze. She managed to break from his grip and ran as fast as she could from him. She was almost free, free from him, when something grabbed tightly to her wrist and began to pull her away from the open exit.
“You aren’t going anywhere! You. Are. Mine!” He growled to her back. “Don’t you understand?! You promised that we would be together for eternity and we would be happy! You were going to be the mother of my children!” She began to scream for help as he buried his face into her hair, taking in the heavenly scent. People ran into the room and attempted to pry her away from his death grip on her. Screams from both of them could be heard on the entire floor, and possibly the floors closest to that floor. Her pleas for help mixed with his anguished cries of him asking to have her stay with him. Their screams pierced the ears of the people trying to separate them. Finally, they broke his vice-like grip on her and pulled them away from each other. Her sobs were muffled by her face burying itself into the chest of a man that helped pull her body away. He screamed and several men had to hold him down, yet even then, he could still struggle free.
“YOU ARE MINE! __y/n__, YOU WILL BECOME MY WIFE AND CARRY MY CHILDREN!”
His arms broke free from four of the men and he began to plow all the men trying to keep him away from his doctor. He felt a pinch in his side, followed by several more. His gaze started to grow hazy and his movements more lethargic. His arms felt as though they weighed tons and he felt his head begin to hang. With one last try, he lifted an arm and her name was the last thing that dripped from his heavy lips.
